01. Mt.Red: a Symbol Of Thrill ...for Red Mountain |
| Music & Arrangement: K.Tokoi |
This song was the first song that Tokoi wrote after joining the project. We used this song during the production presentation and it is quite impressive. "Woof!" sounds like a dog's bark, but what is it really saying? I like the guitar phrase with the slide that appears in the middle. (Senoue) Oh yeah! "Woof!" That's what it is! I remember the look on Tokoi's face when someone said, "Is that a dog whimpering?" (Kumatani) This was actually an expression of "the cry of the natives" who would be on the island. The original is a call from an African tribe saying "Hey!" "Woof!" I was so excited that my nose started to run. (Tokoi) |
02. Red Hot Skull ...for Red Mountain |
| Music & Arrangement: J.Senoue |
Can you tell that I'm using a minor melody from the 01. song? Since it is a volcanic prison with skulls, I decided to use this kind of tune. I think I made it very "lo-fi" for me. This is also my favorite! I was playing around with various effects and such, and it ended up being such a long song. (Senoue) This analog tape cutting technique is difficult to perform because it is time-consuming. This song, which can be interpreted as a remix, easily clears the difficult composition problem. (Tokoi) But I didn't use cutting. Like turning mixers on and off, manually turning effects feeds up and down... Various things. (Senoue) I like this languid feeling. Sometimes I make my own so-called "game sounds" like "I'm going to do it!", and it makes me feel demotivated.... This song seems uninspiring. But that's the good part! That's what I think. (Kumatani) I have found a sample of this song again. Yes. (Senoue) |
03. Heartless Colleague ...for Boss: E-Series Targets |
| Music & Arrangement: J.Senoue |
Since it is a boss battle between mechas, I tried to make it more inorganic and minimalistic than other boss battle songs. I think it has a unique undulation. (Senoue)
The unique guitar chord arm-downs every four bars are well reflected in the minimalist feel of the backing. (Tokoi) |
| 04. Sand Hill |
| Music & Arrangement: K.Tokoi |
It has a Lost World vibe, but goes through the traps in the scorching desert... Make the song a bit more uptempo... This is the concept behind the song. But everyone says "fire sas". (Tokoi) Something's hot, isn't it? It sounds like the theme song for "Tuesday Suspense Theater". All the pictures in the background are shadow puppets, of course. (Senoue) Here it comes. This is the song that brings a grin to everyone's face. The "completely different story" between this song and the song "Event: Unbound" is so strong that I can't think of anything but that one! (Kumatani) Yeah, I might not be able to tell you that story for a minute.... (Tokoi) |
| 05. Event: Sadness |
| Music & Arrangement: F.Kumatani |
I created this song with the image of a lonely image, as if a person is lost in thought. (Kumatani)
The song is very emotional in a good way. Am I the only one who missed this scene during the check? (Tokoi) |
| 06. Theme of "TIKAL" |
| Music & Arrangement: F.Kumatani |
This is actually another version that cannot be heard in the game. I wrote this song with Tikal's environment and her own hidden heart in mind in mind. (Kumatani). It was impressive to see Kumatani staring intently at the Tikal illustration, her back to the image. I look at an illustration and I don't hear a sound... I envy Kumatani, who can compose music that way too. I can only draw nosebleeds on my illustrations.... (chuckles) I beg your pardon! (Tokoi) Oh yes, I remember staring at it. This is one of Naka's favorites. (Senoue) |
07. Tricky Maze ...for Lost World |
| Music & Arrangement: F.Kumatani |
I love this song. It is one of my memories. (Kumatani)
I was beaten! I thought. The timpani was a surprise to me. That alone was enough to K.O. me, but the piano was lyrical and drove me even further. It is also the song that made me firm determination to make 08. I like it very much. (Tokoi) I wanted to give Lost World a particularly cinematic treatment of BGM, and I think all the songs were a perfect fit. (Senoue) |
08. Danger! Chased by Rock ...for Lost World |
| Music & Arrangement: K.Tokoi |
As mentioned above, the song was written under a lot of pressure. It was very difficult to finish the game without adding as much development as possible so as not to interfere with the game itself. (Tokoi) Where did you hone your percussion skills? I'd love to crack your head open. (Kumatani) No, no, no, don't crack your head open. I wonder what is one step ahead... You can feel the tension of what's ahead. (Se-no-e) |
09. Leading Lights ...for Lost World |
| Music & Arrangement: K.Tokoi |
This is one of my specialty genres. When I write a song, I always start with the bass guitar. And the drum pattern comes to mind. So, "Dachichi". (Tokoi) It was just after a drummer named Cozy Powell died in a car accident and I participated in his tribute album, so I was impressed by his quirky "dachichi" hat. (Senoue) "Dachichi" I thought it would stick in my head too. It's sexy, this song. (Kumatani) If it's sexiness, it's adult sexiness. (Senoue) |
| 10. Event: The Past |
| Music & Arrangement: K.Tokoi |
| It quotes the melody of Kumatani's "Theme of E-102y" and is also positioned as an arranged version with a surrealistic feel. (Tokoi) |
| 11. Event: Fanfare for "Dr.Eggman" |
| Music & Arrangement: M.Setsumaru |
| I still have "Dr. Eggman = Nukezaku" in my mind, so I think this song is too serious to be used for his appearance scene. (Setsumaru) |
12. Tornado Scramble ...for Sky Chase |
| Music & Arrangement: M.Setsumaru |
The concept is "inorganic". I didn't see the game screen until after the song was finished, but I think it matched the cloudy sky scene quite well. I think it matches the cloudy sky scene quite well. (Setsumaru) |
13. Funky Groove Makes U Hot!? ...for Options |
| Music & Arrangement: J.Senoue |
This song, on the other hand, is much funkier and has a nice springiness to it. In Sonic Adventure, I think I paid a lot of attention to this kind of detailed screen music. I wonder if the guitar and bass wahs make it sound a lot kudos! (Senoue) I like this song. It's the kind of song that gradually becomes a favorite as you listen to it. (Kumatani) I like to skip delays. This whole song, this whole vibe... It's good. (Tokoi) |
14. Egg Carrier -A Song That Keeps Us On The Move- |
| Music & Arrangement: F.Kumatani & O.Tokoi |
I also like this song. It's like, "Egg Carrier = decisive battlegrounds". That's hot. (Kumatani) This is the first memorable song I arranged for this project that was not my own. It was easy to do because it was originally composed by Kurukamani and was quite close to the finished product. Kumatani is a valuable person who can do various genres. (Tokoi) The chorus at the beginning of this song is done by a man (Tokoi).... I thought it was a woman! What a surprise. I know the second half is female, but come on.... (Senoue) |
15. ZERO The Chase-master ...Boss: Eggman Robot -ZERO- |
| Music & Arrangement: J.Senoue |
Now that I think about it, when I was concentrating on making boss fights, I was probably making them at a ridiculous pace... This also incorporates the Eggman theme song in various motifs and radio-like places along the way. It's a pretty weird guitar, and it's nice. (Senoue) Am I the only one who imagines the clavier tones as electromagnetic waves in later Emmy boss fights? It was just like the image of ZERO. (Tokoi) |
16. Skydeck A Go! Go! ...for Sky Deck |
| Music & Arrangement: J.Senoue |
The action stage belonging to the egg carrier has an arranged version of the same song. All of these songs are very ac... But there are some. This song was also used in the production presentation, so it may leave a strong impression. Perfect driving feel!!!! ... But it's difficult, isn't it, the Sky Deck? (Senoue) |
17. General Offensive ...for Sky Deck |
| Music & Arrangement: K.Tokoi & J.Senoue |
In fact, I got hooked on this song after adding drums and asked Kumatani-san to save me. The effect of having the tones freely interspersed was fully utilized. (Tokoi) This is another playful song in my opinion. (Kumatani) This is what happens when Tokoi's jungle taste is added to the 16. song. It's cool, something. Yeah!!! I played guitar solos and such really tentatively, but it seemed to be good too. (SENOUE) |
| 18. Theme of "E-102y" |
| Music & Arrangement: F.Kumatani |
E-102y is a very "nice" robot. I think I was able to express his "way of life"... I wish I could. (Kumatani) Somewhere lonely... But there is salvation. (Tokoi) When I listen to this song, I feel like a "guy with a heart in spite of being a robot". (Senoue) |
19. Crazy Robo ...for Boss: E-101R |
| Music & Arrangement: F.Kumatani |
In contrast to E-102y, this one is an image overflowing with coolness. I was very conscious of the "duel between robots" part. (Kumatani) The didjeridoo is very impressive, and the mismatch between the backing of the A-melody and the atmosphere of the chorus gives it a very nice flavor. (Tokoi) "I wish that phrase on the brass would go all the way to the end..." was what Tokoikun was saying all along. (Se-no-e) |
20. Bad Taste Aquarium ...for Hot Shelter |
| Music & Arrangement: J.Senoue |
This song is very aggressive, isn't it? The bass guitar is also quite nasty. By the way, we called it the "Bad Tate Aquarium" while we were working on it. So the title remains the same. The next song was done first, and I brought that phrase with me. (Senoue) |
21. Red Barrage Area ...for Hot Shelter |
| Music & Arrangement: K.Tokoi |
The saxophone is expressed in a raw way, which may be what I was aiming for. (Tokoi)
When I listen to Hot Shelter's songs from 20. to 21. in a row, there is a kind of "flow" to them. I didn't mean for that to happen. I like this one, too, because it's pretty quirky. I have a strong impression of this song from the production presentation too.... (Senoue) |
| 22. Danger is Imminent |
| Music & Arrangement: M.Setsumaru |
I wanted to create a violent atmosphere of "This is Sonic's music? I wanted to create a violent atmosphere... But, there are many other songs like that, so it doesn't really stand out. The "chiro-chiro..." and the siren-like "uu~" upper mono should be associated with a city on fire and panic. A word of advice: combining drum loops and odd time signatures is hard. I shouldn't have done it. (Setsumaru) |
23. Sweet Punch ...for Hedgehog Hammer |
| Music & Arrangement: F.Kumatani |
I'm totally playing with it. But it's an innocent game of whack-a-mole. (Kumatani) This song has a taste of early YMO, doesn't it? (Senoue) Yes! This reminded me of YMO's US tour with Akiko Yano singing in the background. (Tokoi) |
24. Militant Missionary ...Boss: Egg Walker & Egg Viper |
| Music: M.Setsumaru & K.Tokoi / Arrangement: K.Tokoi |
It was difficult to arrange.... I had a hard time making the chord sense sound smooth. (Tokoi) As for this song, I can only remember Tokoi, who was struggling a lot. How many times have I tried to throw the sagi out!!!! (Senoue) |
25. Mechanical Resonance ...for Final Egg |
| Music & Arrangement: K.Tokoi |
My ego forced me to play the guitar on this song. I don't know if I can say it myself, but I think it was worthwhile to push hard to get the unique vibrato nuance of the guitar. (Tokoi) It was difficult to get the guitar nuance that Tokoi was looking for in this song. The part in the middle of the song, "Jadja, jadja, jadja, jadja". I'm glad you got into it well though. You're so cool, Ossan! (Senoue) I knew it should be "old man" - the title! I mean, wouldn't you expect to see a shady old guy at a luxury resort surrounded by blonde bathing suit gals and somehow sprinkling Japanese currency around? Too much image? (Kumatani) Yeah, I think that image is only in your head. (Senoue) |
26. Crank the Heat Up!! ...for Final Egg |
| Music & Arrangement: J.Senoue |
This is a song that I arranged in my own way based on the previous song. I personally think it is a great success. The odd time signature of the intro, the wah melody, the interwoven bass solo... Yes, the guitar in the middle of the song was played on a cheap, tiny guitar amp that cost about 5,000 yen. Anyway, the key word in my mind was "without any egrets. I was working outside in the studio and was itching to have Tokoikun listen to it as soon as possible. (SENOUE) The image of the final stage. The chopper bass that appears in the middle of the song interwoven with avant-garde guitar phrases is addictive. (Tokoi). And this one looks like an old man on fire afterwards, right? Is this again too much imaginative thinking? (Kumatani) And if so, did they get chased and caught by debt collectors and... Is it something like that? (Senoue) |
| 27. Boss: CHAOS ver.6 |
| Music & Arrangement: J.Senoue |
This song also does some weird things, like using 7/8 time as the basis for the melody, but making the melody 6/8. Of all the songs in Sonic Adventure, I like this one so much that it has to be one or two of my favorites. It is structured around the Knuckles theme, as it is the last boss when played with Knuckles. (Senoue) That's so cool! I am convinced that he will like it. (Kumatani) I like this guitar phrase. According to the composer, he "made it smooth". (Tokoi) Why are you telling me this? But it was just one night, right? In those days, we were busy with meetings during the day and started writing songs at night! Completed in the morning! There were many chiustances.... (Senoue) |
28. Calm After the Storm ...Egg Carrier -the ocean- |
| Music & Arrangement: K.Tokoi |
For some reason, it is cheerful. Even in the midst of tension, there is a sense of calm. I wonder why. (Tokoi)
Do you understand "hah~~~~"? (Kumatani) What? Is "hah~~~~" Kumatani? (laughs) (Senoue) |
| 29. Event: Unbound |
| Music & Arrangement: K.Tokoi |
It took me a long time to get the right mood for the solo trumpet. But the image of Yokosuka... (tokoi) (Backstory behind the backstory...) This is Yokosuka... A slightly pretentious hotel lounge. It was really only supposed to be a meal.... But now we are both in the lounge tipping glasses.... A man and a woman who are narrowing the gap between them. Legs and feet gradually touching each other.... "Hey, can we spend the rest of the day together?" Breaking the silence for a moment, such words suddenly escaped from the woman's mouth.... (subsequent story at Sand Hill) |
30. Perfect CHAOS Revival! ...Boss: Perfect CHAOS |
| Music & Arrangement: K.Tokoi |
| It really takes a full week. |
